Does GILAS dispense water as well as clean glasses?
Yes. GILAS is a contact-free water dispenser and glass cleaner in one unit. Press a button and it fills a sanitised steel glass with drinking water; return the glass and it is cleaned and disinfected for the next person.
Does GILAS purify or treat the water?
No. GILAS dispenses drinking water but does not purify it, so it must be filled from, or connected to, water that is already safe to drink.
Where does the drinking water come from?
Depending on the variant, from a refillable tank in the unit or a connection to your existing drinking-water supply. We’ll recommend the right option for your site.
Why is GILAS more hygienic than a shared tumbler?
A shared tumbler at a water point is usually rinsed in a bucket, if at all, then handed to the next person. GILAS puts every glass through a spray wash, ultrasonic cleaning and UV-C disinfection before it is reused, designed to cut pathogens by 99.9%. Independent validation of that figure is under way.
Is the glass sterilized?
GILAS cleans and disinfects. We will only use the word “sterilized” if third-party validation supports it.
Can hospitals and clinics use GILAS?
Yes, for drinking glasses in non-clinical areas such as OPD waiting rooms, wards, canteens and staff rooms. GILAS is not a medical device and does not replace clinical sterilization of instruments or biomedical-waste procedures.
Is GILAS safe to use around children?
The UV-C lamps sit inside a sealed chamber and switch on only when it is closed, so nobody is exposed. The cleaning solution is biodegradable and held in a sealed tank. We will confirm placement and supervision guidance for schools before launch.
What glasses does GILAS use?
GILAS is designed around its own double-walled stainless-steel glass, engraved with the GILAS mark. Steel doesn’t shatter in a school corridor or a crowded event. Ask us how many glasses you’ll need.
How long does one cleaning cycle take?
GILAS is designed for a full three-stage cycle of about 60 seconds per glass. Independent testing of cycle time is under way, and we will publish the results.
Does GILAS need a water connection or drain?
Not for the portable variant. Cleaning solution and wastewater are held in sealed tanks inside the unit that you refill and empty between sessions, and it runs from a standard wall socket. Some variants can connect to a drinking-water supply.
Which certifications does GILAS have?
GILAS is currently in the certification process. We are pursuing BIS for India, plus CE, UL, FCC, food-contact and IPX4 marks for other markets.
Ordering
How many people can one unit serve?
Each unit is designed to clean 4–6 glasses a minute continuously. For schools, hospitals and large events we will recommend a number of units based on how many people drink at peak times.
Can GILAS be funded through CSR?
Yes. Companies can fund GILAS units for government schools or public hospitals as a CSR project, and we can bundle maintenance and consumables. Contact us to plan a programme.
How much does GILAS cost?
Pricing depends on whether you buy, lease or rent and how many units you need. Request a quote and we will reply within two business days.
Can I rent GILAS for a single event?
Yes. We are partnering with event-rental and catering companies to offer GILAS per event. Tell us your date and guest count.
Where is GILAS available?
We are launching in India first. Tell us where you are and we’ll let you know when GILAS can reach you.
Can we run a pilot first?
Yes. We’re setting up our first pilots with schools, hospitals and event partners, and each one becomes a published case study.
Support
Do staff need to operate it?
No. People press a button to get water in a clean glass, then put the glass back, which starts the cleaning cycle automatically. Staff only refill water and solution and empty the waste tank.
How do we refill the solution and empty the waste tank?
Both are sealed tanks you refill or empty between sessions. Step-by-step instructions and disposal guidance will ship with every unit.
What maintenance does GILAS need?
Day to day: refill the cleaning solution, empty the waste tank and wipe the exterior. We will offer maintenance and consumables plans so you never run out.
Where do we get cleaning solution and spare glasses?
From MUSTHAV, as part of a consumables plan or on request. We will confirm pricing with your quote.
What if something goes wrong with our unit?
Email support@musthav.co.in. Service terms and response times will be confirmed at launch and included with every order.
Sustainability
How much water does it use?
About 100 ml per cycle, by design. That is roughly 80% less than a commercial dishwasher per glass, based on the founders’ figures. Independent verification is pending.
How much plastic will GILAS save us?
It depends on how many people drink at your site. Our impact calculator estimates plastic tumblers, CO₂e and cost avoided, and shows its full method.
Is the cleaning solution environmentally safe?
It is a biodegradable alkaline solution (pH 9.5–10.5) chosen to break down residue without harsh chemicals. A safety data sheet will be available before launch.
Has GILAS had a lifecycle assessment?
Not yet. An independent lifecycle assessment is planned, and we will publish its CO₂e, water and waste results in full. Until then, our impact figures are labelled as estimates.
Aren’t plastic cups already banned in India?
Yes, since 1 July 2022. But a 2025 survey still found banned single-use plastics at 84% of sites checked in four cities. A ban works best when there’s a practical alternative.
